Birth of the King

"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2

Dear King of Kings,

You truly are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Although you came to us in a humble manger, you displayed your power and glory for the entire world in your life. May we be so humbled and awestruck at your life on earth that we too might live humble and obedient lives to you.

We come into your holy presence knowing we are unworthy of your love, yet you still show us unfathomable love. Please forgive us for the sins we have committed and help us to live lives in honor to you.

We are truly thankful for your coming in the manger so very long ago. May we never forget the tremendous sacrifice you gave for us. Thank you for your love and generosity that you show us in your grace. We are thankful that you accept us as we are, sin and all, just as you accepted the visit of the Magi.

We ask that you continue to be with all St. John's students and staff as they mourn the passing of Mrs. Warneke. May your love be shown to all who grieve. Please be with her family and those that loved her so much. Be with St. John's in this new year that we might draw close to you and ever do what your will may be.

We ask this all in your precious name, Amen!
