Carrying the Cross

"And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:27

 Heavenly Father,

 THANK YOU for St. John's Lutheran School of Orange! What a blessing it is to see and hear the excitement for learning and the joy of Jesus abound throughout the classrooms and playgrounds of the school. You are a boundless God and your dominion over this world is evident through your establishment of schools of learning and places of worship. I praise You for Your presence among us here at St. John's.

 In the midst of the back-to-school business of life and the beginnings of a new school year, be with us and give us your peace in times of newness, times of anxiousness, and times of excitement. May each classroom on our campus have the joy of Jesus at its center and may that joy be in abundance. Let that joy be the vehicle of peace in our lives.

 Finally, Lord, help all teachers, students, and families at St. John's to grow closer to you. Help us learn what it is to be your disciple and to gladly accept the work of the Gospel you have set before us. Let us praise and worship you with glad hearts that witness to all those around us.

 In Jesus our Savior's name, Amen!

Build Them Up

"Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up." Romans 15:2 Dear Jesus, You build us up so that we can build others up. We praise you for your love and saving grace for us daily. May we use that love and grace to do good in our communities and to our neighbors. We want to transform the world in your name and for your glory. Jesus please forgive us our sins and provide us with a clear conscious that we may live in your love. Help us to avoid the traps of the devil and seek your face at all times. Thank you loving Savior for all of your goodness and mercy toward St. John's and our entire community.
